What it actually is
The antiscion of a planet is its mirror image across the solstice axis — the 0° Cancer / 0° Capricorn line. A planet at 10° Gemini has its antiscion at 20° Cancer, because those two degrees share the same day length.
That shared daylight is the logic of the technique. The tradition treats two planets connected by antiscion as being in a real relationship, even though nothing on a normal chart wheel suggests it — the contact is genuinely invisible until you look for it.
The contra-antiscion is the reflection across the equinoctial axis instead, at 0° Aries / 0° Libra, and is read closer to an opposition than a conjunction.
It is a small, sharp technique rather than a whole system, and it tends to be reached for when a chart seems to be missing a connection that a life clearly has. Umbriel computes both reflections for every body and lists the contacts, so it takes a moment rather than an afternoon with a table.
How Umbriel computes it
The antiscion is the reflection of a longitude across the 0° Cancer / 0° Capricorn axis, and the contra-antiscion the reflection across 0° Aries / 0° Libra. Both are computed for every body including the angles, and contacts are found by comparing those reflected points against the real positions with your own orb settings — not a fixed orb chosen by the software. Because an antiscion is a point rather than a body, it is listed rather than drawn on the wheel, where it would read as a planet that is not there.
