Where astrologers list their practice

Umbriel has a directory of readers, and one thing decides the order it is shown in: the standing you have earned by helping people in the community. It is free to list, and it is new — which is the honest reason to read this page rather than a reason not to.

Who this page is for

If you read charts for other people, this is the part of Umbriel built for you.

The directory is called Find an Astrologer, and it lives in what Umbriel calls the 11th House — the house of friends, groups and networks, the people who lift you. That naming is not decoration. The whole design rests on one idea: the way you get clients here is by being genuinely useful to people who are not yet clients.

Standing, not advertising

Listings are ordered by standing, and standing is earned by helping — answering someone's question about their chart, explaining a placement well, being the person whose interpretation other people found useful.

It is deliberately not a volume count. Posting more does not lift you; being helpful does. And it is not a paid placement — there is no way to buy your way up the directory, because a directory you can buy your way to the top of tells a client nothing.

⚠️ The plain consequence, stated rather than implied: if you list a practice and never help anybody, you will sit at the bottom of a short list. The mechanism only works one way round.

What it is honest about

The directory is new and it is small. Nobody is listed as practising yet. You would be early, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise — a page that implied a busy marketplace would be found out on the first click, and would deserve to be.

Payment is not handled in the app yet. Today, a reader and a client arrange between themselves. Umbriel intends to carry the payment itself — so that arranging a reading is one place rather than a scatter of apps and handles — and that is the next major piece of work rather than something already built. Until it exists, this page will keep saying so.

There are no invented astrologers. Not one seeded profile, not one placeholder practitioner. An empty directory that says it is empty is worth more than a full one you cannot trust.

What listing gives you today

A profile people can find, ordered by what you have actually contributed. A place to describe what you offer and how you work. And a handle that cannot be impersonated — every account carries a deterministic @handle shown beside the display name, so somebody copying your name does not get your identity with it.

The community around it has a real safety layer rather than a promise of one: blocks are keyed to an account id and survive a rename, posts are scanned for the shapes scams take and for birth details people did not mean to publish, external links carry a warning until an account has earned some trust, and participation is 18+.

You can also teach here. Umbriel has a course platform, and readers who explain things well tend to be the ones people come back to.

Questions

How do I list my astrology practice on Umbriel?

Open Find an Astrologer inside the app and add your practice. It is free, and there is no application to pass.

Does it cost anything to be listed?

No. There is also no way to pay for a higher position, because a directory you can buy your way up tells a client nothing.

How is the directory ordered?

By standing — the reputation you earn by helping people in the community. Not by volume, and not by payment.

Are there astrologers listed already?

Not yet. The directory is new and nobody has listed a practice. Umbriel will not seed it with invented profiles, so it stays honestly empty until real readers arrive.

Can clients pay through Umbriel?

Not yet. For now a reader and a client arrange payment between themselves. Carrying the payment in the app is the next major piece of work.

Do I need to be certified?

No. Umbriel has a course sequence if you want one, but the directory does not gate on credentials — standing comes from how you actually help people.
