What it is

Mercury does not reverse. It is an apparent motion: the Earth overtakes it on the inside of the track, and for about three weeks Mercury appears to slide backwards against the stars. It happens three or four times a year, which is worth remembering before blaming it for anything unusual, a thing that is true a quarter of the time is not much of an explanation. What it is genuinely useful for is the house it falls in for you, which is the part a calendar cannot tell you.

Where it falls in your chart

This is the part a calendar cannot tell you. 4°55′ Scorpio is a fixed point in the sky; which house of your chart it lands in, and which of your own placements it touches, depends on your birth date, time and place. Umbriel works that out in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
