⧉ Birth Chart Data Export: Plain Text, Markdown and JSON
Put in a birth date, and a time, UTC offset and place if you have them, and this free tool writes the chart's computed facts three ways side by side: plain text, Markdown and JSON. Each starts with where its numbers came from, and none says what anything means.
Runs in your browser.
COMPUTEDEvery number is the engine's own, to the arcminute, with where it came from printed first.
- Provenance firstInputs, the UT instant used, UTC offset, house system, zodiac, ayanamsa, node mode, engine version, checked accuracy and what was not given.
- Facts onlyPositions, houses, angles, aspects with orbs, dignities and lots. No sentence says what anything means.
- Three formatsPlain text to paste, Markdown for notes, JSON with units named for a program.
- Honest without a timeNo Ascendant, no houses, the Moon as two signs when it changes sign that day.
What the three formats look like
This is an invented chart (17 May 1990, 14:30, Sydney), cut short. The tool writes the whole thing, and this sample is produced by the same code.

What this tool answers
The positions, houses, angles, aspects, traditional dignities and essential lots of a birth chart, written so another program or a note can use them, with the inputs and conventions stated at the top.
How it calculates
Umbriel casts the chart in your browser from published series and writes the engine's own numbers, to the arcminute. The UT instant, UTC offset, house system, zodiac and node mode are printed first, with the checked accuracy of each body.
When the result is uncertain
With no birth time, the Ascendant, houses and lots are listed as not given and the Moon may be shown as two signs. Nothing is guessed. Without a UTC offset the clock time is treated as UT, and the file says so.
Common questions
What is in the export?
The provenance (inputs, the UT instant used, UTC offset, house system, zodiac and ayanamsa, node mode, engine version and the checked accuracy), the positions of the Sun to Pluto, the nodes, Chiron and both Liliths to the arcminute with house, retrograde and speed, the Ascendant, Midheaven and twelve house cusps, every aspect with its orb and whether it is applying, the seven classical planets' essential dignities, and the seven essential Arabic lots. Asteroids, dominants and dated events are left out; the Full House file carries those.
Is anything interpreted?
No. Every line is a computed number or a table lookup. The export contains no sentence about what a placement means, and a test checks the whole output against a list of interpretive words. The traditional dignity points are a lookup in a table of conventions, and the export says so.
What does the short note on top do?
It is one optional paragraph that sits above any of the three formats. It says the facts were computed from the birth data listed, to treat them as computed, to use only the placements listed, and to say when something is not in the data. It is plain text you can delete.
What if I do not know the birth time?
Then the Ascendant, Midheaven, houses, Part of Fortune, Vertex, East Point and the lots are listed as not given, because they depend on the time. A planet that keeps one sign all day is given with its range of degrees across the date, and the Moon, or any planet that changes sign that day, is shown as the possible signs. Aspects to the Moon say how far their orb could be out.
How accurate are the numbers?
The provenance block states it. The Sun is checked against NASA/JPL Horizons to under 1 arcsecond from 1650 to 2050, the Moon to 0.27 arcminutes at worst over 312 dates from 1600 to 2050, and Jupiter to Neptune to 2.5 arcseconds over 120 moments from 1910 to 2044. Mercury, Venus and Mars are checked against published ingress dates only. The longitude field carries four decimals of a degree, which is not extra precision.
Which time zone and house system does it use?
The UTC offset you choose, applied to the clock time, and the house system you choose, Placidus by default. If a system cannot be drawn at your latitude, for example Placidus near the Arctic Circle, the export uses equal houses and names the reason. A sidereal zodiac uses the Lahiri ayanamsa and the export states its value.
Does it send my details anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser, nothing you type is stored or sent, and the place is only a latitude and longitude that you type or pick from a short list.
