☽ Free Progressed Moon Calculator — Sign, House and Phase

Umbriel's free progressed Moon calculator shows where your progressed Moon is now — sign, degree and house — and when it next changes sign. No account, no email. The progressed Moon spends about two and a half years in each sign and takes roughly twenty-seven and a half years to go round, which makes it the most-used timing measure in secondary progressions.

What the progressed Moon actually is

Secondary progressions work on a simple substitution: one day after birth stands for one year of life. Your chart at thirty is the sky as it stood thirty days after you were born. It is a symbolic technique rather than an astronomical one — nothing is actually where the progressed chart says it is — and it is worth being clear about that, because it is often presented as though it were a transit.

Within that scheme the progressed Moon is the fast hand on the clock. The real Moon crosses a sign in two and a half days, so the progressed Moon crosses one in about two and a half years, and completes a circuit in roughly twenty-seven and a half — which is why the ages around 27-28, 55 and 82 come up so often. Its sign is usually read as the emotional colour of a multi-year stretch, and its house as the area of life quietly under emphasis.

The other half is the progressed lunation cycle: the progressed Moon's phase relative to the progressed Sun, running new to full to new across those twenty-seven years. Read that way it gives a long arc — a progressed new Moon as a beginning, a progressed full Moon roughly fourteen years later as a culmination. It is one of the few techniques that describes a period long enough to be recognised in hindsight.

Common questions

What is the progressed Moon?

The Moon in your secondary progressed chart — the chart built by counting one day after birth for each year of life. It moves about one sign every two and a half years and is the main timing measure in progressions.

How long does the progressed Moon stay in a sign?

Roughly two and a half years, and the full circuit takes about twenty-seven and a half — which is why the late twenties, mid-fifties and early eighties recur in progressed writing.

What is a progressed new Moon?

The moment the progressed Moon meets the progressed Sun, once every twenty-seven or so years. It is traditionally read as the start of a long chapter, with the progressed full Moon about fourteen years later read as its culmination.

Are progressions the same as transits?

No. Transits are where the planets actually are now. Progressions are a symbolic technique — a day for a year — and nothing is physically where the progressed chart places it. Both are used for timing, and they answer different questions.

Is the progressed Moon calculator free?

Yes — sign, degree, house, sign-change dates and the lunation cycle, with no account and no email.
